MUSICAL THEATRE

WHAT IS MUSICAL THEATRE

Musical Theatre tells a story through more than one discipline, it blends music, acting and dance.

It is important to learn the correct techniques for each.

This includes how to:

Breathe and sing

Acting techniques, improvisation

Diction, pronunciation

How to add dance

Once you have learnt these components, you piece them together to create a performance that includes, singing, dancing, and acting.

From Shakespeare to Dr Suess for acting to Stephen Sondheim, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Disney to more current musicals like Hamilton and in the heights for singing.

We have included everything to give you the most well-rounded syllabus to learn and create from.

The course provides acting gamestongue twisters, poems, monologues and vocal exercises.

PLUS: over 40 vocal warm up lessons pre-recorded for you to use in class to teach your students.

We give you the skills to be able to break down the teaching techniques and make your students a

TRIPLE THREAT!

ARE YOU A TEACHER?

Are you are looking to deliver a brilliant programme of study in Musical Theatre within your school?

Within the exercises, everything is broken down in a one to one video tutorial.

It is performed by a singer with piano and as a backing track on MP3.

To enter students into our examination system, you must attend the iD Company teacher’s course to become a fully qualified teacher member.

On the course you will receive the teacher’s handbook, a music guide, certificate of qualification and learn the skills you need to teach at your best.

ARE YOU A STUDENT?

If you have never learnt to sing and want to learn, we recommend you start at grade 1 and build up through our grading system. If you are more experienced, start at a higher grade.

Every exercise is broken down in a one to one video tutorial.

It is performed by a singer with piano and as a backing track on MP3.

WHY LEARN MUSICAL THEATRE?

Performing arts colleges train students in these specialist areas and some dancers find it hard arriving at college without having their basic training.

Performers will most likely be asked to sing at an audition for their college or for a professional job.

They will have to do this also at auditions for West end shows, Broadway, Holiday camps and cruise ships.

To train the voice is as important as the dance aspect.

EXTRA SUPPORT

We want to help you be your best and know that you may forget something or need a little help sometimes.

With this in mind we have set up a private Facebook for you upon finishing the course.

You can ask questions, share videos and make friends with your fellow teachers.

Know that you are not alone!

We are all connected if you ever need to ask our team a question.
